LOOKING FOR COVID SIGNAGE SCHEME PARTNERS

The Scottish Government are currently seeking partners to take part in a pilot of the COVID Safety Signage Scheme. This is one of the initiatives stemming from the Coronavirus (COVID-19): Scotland’s Strategic Framework Update, published in February 2022.

As we move away from regulated measures, this voluntary scheme will encourage those that manage businesses, public and third sector organisations to display signage indicating that that their buildings or venues have COVID protective measures in place.

The organisations using the scheme will answer a set of self-assessed questions on the Scottish Government website regarding which protective measures they have in place in their buildings. These may include: face coverings, regular opening of windows and doors, enhanced hygiene measures, maximising use of outdoor space (among other protective measures).

Once the self-assessment is complete, organisations will be able to download an editable PDF in which they will be able to type their organisation name into the relevant sign. Organisations will have the option to embed a QR code or URL link so that their visitors, customers and workers can find out more about the protective measures that they have put in place.

The scheme will be voluntary and there is no intention for settings to be monitored to ensure that the self-assessments they make are accurate.

The Scottish Government have committed to developing the pilot scheme by the end of April, with a view towards the pilot itself taking place during the summer months of 2022. We hope to agree a list of pilot partners by the end of April.

Following the pilot of the scheme, questionnaires will be provided to business owners and building managers during and at the conclusion of the pilot, so that they can provide an insight into their thoughts on the scheme and its impact.

We hope that this scheme will have a positive impact upon both participating organisations and Scotland as a whole. It will enable businesses and organisations to reassure their customers and workers that they are taking steps to help reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission in their settings, as well as other viruses and infections. By taking part you will also be contributing towards a more infection resilient society in Scotland as we adapt to live with COVID-19 .

If your organisation would be interested in taking part in the pilot of the COVID Safety Signage Scheme, could you please respond to this message by 4pm on Friday 6th May 2022 and Scottish Government officials will be in touch. We would also be happy to clarify any questions you may have, to further inform your organisation’s decision to take part in the pilot.
